Red Pointe Shoe

About

Pardon the dust.

Red Pointe Shoe is currently in the process of coming back to life. Thank you for your (involuntary) patience as things shift back into place.

Take a Break from Ads

The sheer volume of disruptive ads and pop ups that we encounter when clicking on a link is not normal. We're in this insane timeline where any company feels like they can insist you download their app, pay for their subscription, or join the mailing list, all before accessing their chocolate chip cookie recipe. It's all noise.

There aren't paid advertisements here. My vision is to create a space where I can share my words without subjecting visitors to the deluge of capitalism we find on every other corner of the internet. Consider it a break from the rest of the world.

Social Media Free Zone

You won't find much of me promoting this site on social media. We could all do with a little less overall screen time and a lot less social media time. This means I take a significant hit with potential sources of traffic. You're of course welcome to share something you like on your own profiles, or better yet, email to a friend.

Mental health professionals are only recently beginning to understand the long term negative effects of social media use. It's making us sick. It's offering sedentary doomsday scrolling in lieu of, well, anything else we could be doing. Consider asking yourself: Is the ability to stalk that one person you knew a long time ago really worth it? Social media companies are open about this: they intentionally design themselves to be addictive, especially to young people.

There are also concerns around privacy. I am your biggest threat. I am an avid internet creep and I will find out what I can about any target of my choosing. I will hunt down anything I can about people I'm considering for employment. Even if you think you're safe with a private profile, don't assume so. If we have a mutual friend, I'm one text away from finding out whatever I want that you've posted that you thought was safe.

AI Policy

I'll admit it: I dabble in AI. But when it comes to this website, I have strict rules. AI doesn't touch my original writing. Not even my code.

So, what does it help me with? I'm a lousy graphic designer. Robots help me with some, but not all, digital images.
