I gotta admit: it's a fantastic feeling to be blogging from the Student
Union at SUNY Potsdam once again. I'm here for the weekend and will be
catching my bus out of here bright and early tomorrow morning. Tonight's the
last hurrah.
Getting here was long, exhausting, expensive, and well worth it. Last
night I enjoyed a trip to the bar and ran into a number of wonderfully
familiar faces. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see everyone because
some have moved on to other adventures, but it's been great to see the ones
who are still around. If only I had a few more days to track down everyone!
In Potsdam, everything has changed and nothing has changed. There are
fewer faces that I recognize, but the fresh faces are the same types of
people, going through the same types of whacky things that we went through
our first years here.
I'm not sure what I expected to find when I booked this trip. Maybe the
state of things here is neither good nor bad, it just is.
Relationships, both romantic and otherwise, have shifted incredibly in all
sorts of weird directions. I find all of that difficult to adjust to.
Perhaps yearning for the way things used to be isn't entirely healthy, but I
can't help but feel disappointment when I find out who is no longer speaking
to whom.
Figuring out a place to sleep here has also been quite the adventure.
It's oddly comforting, however, when I wander into either Max's house or
Gillian's house and find bits of me still around. My first night here I
slept on Jordan's couch, wrapped in the blanket I crocheted for the homies
when I was a student here.
I'm not sure what my plan is for the rest of the day. I imagine I'll
continue wandering around the Dam, reminiscing in all of its glory, until
tonight when I get to see Max and Gillian be rock stars again.
